Huskers pick up big commit in juco guard Talley

When Dylan Talley got back from his visit to Nebraska on Sunday night, he wanted to take time with his decision and still go on at least one more visit before choosing his next school.

Less the 24 hours later, Talley had committed to the Huskers.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound combo guard from Blinn (Texas) Community College will come to Lincoln regarded by many as one of the top junior college prospects in the country.

Last season, Talley led Blinn with 22.5 ppg on 49% shooting from the floor last season to go along with 6.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. He just earned NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American honors this weekend.

The sophomore will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Talley also had offers from LSU, Colorado, USC, Tennessee, Gonzaga, Seton Hall and a slew of other schools, but had said he was only interested in Nebraska and LSU.

Despite still having a visit to LSU schedule for this weekend, the Camden, N.J., native said he felt so good about his visit to Lincoln that he didn't want to waste any more time seeing other schools.

"After I got back from the trip, I just started thinking about the visit and how much I enjoyed myself," Talley said. "I talked it over with my family, and they just said 'do what's best for you and what you feel is right.' I just felt like it was right.

"I didn't want to take anymore visits. I didn't want to drag out the process on any longer. I just felt comfortable with Nebraska and Coach Doc (Sadler)."

Talley said he would be in Lincoln in time for the start of the first five-week summer school session at UNL in June.

As for his role on the court, Talley said Nebraska was looking at him to come in an make an immediate impact as a scorer as a shooting guard while also possibly helping take on some of the point guard duties next season.

"They talked to me about how they see me fitting into the offense," Talley said after his visit on Sunday. "They want me to play some one, some two, because I can really score on the wing. They said I could bring a lot of scoring to the team and create my own shot and penetrate and make everybody else better."

With Talley's commitment, Nebraska now has one scholarship remaining heading into the spring signing period, which starts Wednesday and runs through May 18.

The Huskers also hosted juco guard Matt Glover of Sheridan (Wyo.) CC over the weekend, and they will also get a visit from Frederick (Md.) CC wing Anthony Hubbard on Friday.
