Pullen honored by Big 12
Jacob Pullen was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 19.5 points in helping K-State to pair of wins over Nebraska and Iowa State last week.Senior
Pullen, who earned the weekly honor for the second time in his career, helped the Wildcats to consecutive wins in Big 12 play for the first time this season in victories over Nebraska (69-53) on Feb. 2 and Iowa State (86-85) on Feb. 5. He averaged 19.5 points on 45.2 percent shooting (14-of-31), including just 30 percent (3-of-10) from 3-point range, in the two wins with 7.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 37.5 minutes per game. He also connected on 72.7 percent (8-of-11) from the free throw line.
Pullen began the week with a game-high 18 points in the 69-53 win over Nebraska last Wednesday to go with a team-best six assists, two steals and one block in 39 minutes. He went 6-of-15 from the field and 5-of-7 from the free throw line. He came through in the clutch in the Wildcats' fifth straight win in Ames on Saturday with the game-winning lay-up with 2.6 seconds. He scored 17 of his game-high 21 points in the second half of the 86-85 win over the Cyclones to go with a season-best eight assists, three rebounds and two steals in 36 minutes. It marked his 10th 20-point game of the season, including his seventh in the last 10 contests.
Pullen is averaging a team-best 18.2 points on 41.5 percent shooting, including 32.8 percent from 3-point range, with 3.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 32 minutes per game. In Big 12-only games, he is averaging nearly 20 points per game (19.7 ppg). He ranks among the Top 5 in 17 career categories in school history, including records for 3-point field goals (269) and steals (195) and second in scoring (1,889).
Kansas State (16-8, 4-5 Big 12) takes its two-game winning streak to Boulder, Colo., on Saturday, as the Wildcats play Colorado (15-9, 4-5 Big 12) for the final time as conference foes at the Coors Events Center at 8 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU.
