Get tough

One of the biggest challenges in entering the Big 12 Conference schedule is matching the physicality Nebraska is going to see on a nightly basis for the next 16 games. The Huskers have been the bigger and stronger team in almost every game they've played this season, so it will be interesting to see how they respond to opponents who won't be completely overmatched by their size.
Defend the 3

If there's one thing Iowa State does well, it's shoot from the perimeter. The Cyclones come into tonight's game with a Big 12 best 134 3-pointers on the season and rank third with a percentage of 39.0. Considering the struggles Nebraska has had with its perimeter shooting this season, the last thing the Huskers want to do is get into a 3-point shootout with ISU.
Come to play

With road trips to Missouri and Kansas next up on Nebraska's Big 12 slate, getting a win at home against a beatable Iowa State team would be huge in terms of keeping up the momentum of non-conference play. As long as the Huskers show up and play their game, there's no reason they can't head to Columbia, Mo., with a league win under their belts and, more importantly, prevent the chance of an 0-3 start to the Big 12 season.

Head coach Doc Sadler on being 12-2 heading into Big 12 play:

"I'm very happy with that. I think our team has some confidence going into league play. I think they also, for the most part, understand that it's (going) to change. We have to be ready for every minute of the game. The mistakes that we made tonight get you beat on Saturday. We have to understand that we don't have the luxury of being up double digits very many times over these next 16 ball games."
Senior guard Lance Jeter on the team's confidence entering the Big 12 schedule:

"We feel good about our chances. Everything is in our hands. Obviously, we let two games get away from us in the Puerto Rico Tournament, but that was in the past. We had a goal to win all our home games when we came home from that trip and we've done that so far. We have a big one against Iowa State on Saturday, and we're looking forward to that. Everybody is excited about that and ready to start playing some real good competition that we know is going to be hard every game. That's something that we're looking forward to, because it's definitely going to challenge our mental and physical abilities. A lot of teams are going to be bigger and quicker."

Nebraska 65-63
