Marve tore ACL

Robert Marve's season-ending left knee injury is a torn anterior cruciate ligament, Purdue confirmed Thursday in a news release.

It is the second such injury Marve has sustained in that knee, also tearing his left ACL two springs ago.

"Robert Marve is a big part of our football family, he has worked extremely hard to be the great player that he is and our heart goes out to him," Coach Danny Hope said in a released statement. "Boilermaker Nation will rally behind him with all of its support through this tough time. I know he will continue to be an inspiration to his teammates and fans."

Without Marve, who started Purdue's first four games, the Boilermakers move forward with redshirt freshman Rob Henry as their starting quarterback.

Marve is the third key offensive player lost to an ACL injury since the spring.

Starting running back Ralph Bolden tore his ACL in the spring and will likely redshirt this season. No. 1 receiver Keith Smith tore his ACL and MCL vs. Western Illinois in Week 2.
