The preseason Heisman Trophy contenders seem to drop week after week, so it might be time for voters to reach into the grab bag for worthy candidates.

How about the nation's leader in all-purpose yards? Clemson coach Dabo Swinney thinks it's a no-brainer. The Tigers' C.J. Spiller accounted for 310 total yards and three touchdowns in a 40-37 overtime victory at Miami to earn Rivals.com National Player of the Week and ACC Player of the Week honors.

Through a running back, Spiller made a bigger impact in the passing game and on special teams; he had six receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown and returned a kickoff 90 yards for a score. He also ran for 81 yards.

"I hope the country watched him," Swinney said. "If people don't want to put him in the Heisman race, shame on them. This is the best player in college football, period. He has done it every week. This guy here has been unbelievable."

Spiller moved from sixth in the nation in all-purpose yards to first this week. He averages 207.9 yards per game.

Spiller wasn't the only standout player from Clemson at Miami. Redshirt freshman quarterback Kyle Parker was 25-of-37 for 326 yards with three touchdowns and an interception in the 40-37 win. He threw the game-winning score to Jacoby Ford on the last play of the game. Spiller (Lake Butler), Parker (Fruit Cove) and Ford (West Palm Beach) are Florida natives.

NATIONAL COORDINATOR OF THE WEEK: Penn State defensive coordinator Tom Bradley

Penn State still needs Iowa to lose twice for a chance at the Big Ten title, but the Nittany Lions' defense did its part by dismantling Michigan. Tom Bradley's defense held the Wolverines to 250 total yards and came up with two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and five sacks in the 35-10 rout in Ann Arbor.
