Mullen pleased with two-a-day work

Mississippi State has reached their final day of two-a-day practice on Saturday.

Head coach Dan Mullen was pleased with his team's effort during the morning session and expects nothing less entering into the afternoon workout as they close out their last practice on the intramural fields across campus.

"They worked hard today," Mullen said. "Today is a big, big day for us. It's the last day of two-a-days that we have. They came out and battled this morning and need to this afternoon. We've got school starting Monday and it's our last day out on the farm. There is basically no practice Sunday and no practice Monday so we need to really push them hard today."

Even with the final two-a-day session, Mullen will not allow his squad to get into a routine until they begin game week preparations. He will continue to spice up his practices in order to keep complacency out of the picture.

"We don't want to get into a routine until game week," Mullen said. "We've got two more weeks of training camp so our practice times are going to be a little bit different. We are going to go late at night next week and then early in the morning the following week until we settle into our normal schedule of the game week. The reason is that when we start our routine it's game week."

Mullen and his staff will begin to construct their playbooks for the season this week after learning more of what they have to work with during fall camp.
