Three star safety looking to visit CMU

Wellington, Florida native Peniel Jean is becoming a highly coveted recruit for many teams throughout the country. Standing at 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds, the 2010 defensive back has surely seen his stock rise over the last couple of months.

"The recruiting period has been a great experience. A lot schools are starting to increase their interest in me, so I'm just enjoying the process right now".

Peniel has also seen his stock rise on Rivals recruiting board as well. The current three star prospect has become a top commodity for many schools in the MAC including Central Michigan University.

"I've received a lot interest from Central. I have spoken to the coaches a couple of times, and they offered me a scholarship a while back. Central is a good school from what I hear and I'm looking forward to visiting," said Jean. ""I don't know much about Central football team yet, but the coaches have been telling me about them. I know that they are one of the top teams in the MAC and, I hope to learn more when I visit".

Other than Central Michigan, Peniel has received offers from Wisconsin, Maryland, Connecticut, Middle Tennessee, Northern Illinois, Marshall, Bowling Green, and Western Michigan.

Even with all the interest from numerous schools, Jean remains content on keeping his recruitment open for a while.

"My recruitment is still wide open. After I finish all of my official visits I will focus on trimming my list of schools".

Jean led his Palm Beach Central high school team to six wins last year, marking their first winning season in school history and a berth into the state playoffs. Peniel's contributions were sensational as he recorded over 50 solo tackles and three interceptions on the defensive side of the ball. For Palm Beach Central, making the playoffs was a huge accomplishment, and Peniel explained that he wants to continue that caliber of success next season.

"My main goal for next year is just to win as many games as possible and make the State Playoffs again."

Jean obviously values winning, but his primary enjoyment in football comes from his relationship with his teammates.

"I'm a huge team player and I enjoy bonding with my teammates on and off the football field".

With a 4.5 registered forty time, Peniel has ideal speed and lateral quickness for the safety position, but he explains that his ability to recognize the offensive schemes is his biggest strength as a player.

"In zone coverage I'm good at seeing the play as it happens and making plays on the ball. I'm also good at tackling and wrapping the ball carrier up in open space".

Peniel's distinct ability to breakdown offensive plays has a lot of programs projecting him as their future starting safety, but he explained that he personally prefers playing corner.

"Most schools want me to play safety, but I like playing corner too because I get to play man coverage. Hopefully I can play both positions in college".

Schools that recruit Jean must take note of his strong desire for an excellent continual education. He stated his favorite current subject is history, and academics are extremely important in determining his school of choice.

"I'm looking for a school that values academics, has a good campus lifestyle, and a family type atmosphere between players and coaches".

Outside of football Jean stated that he just enjoys having fun.

"I like going to the movies, the beach and just hanging out with my friends."
