Bulldogs now the favorite for Taylor

Morton, Miss., wide receiver Terrance Taylor grew up an Ole Miss fan and his cousin Shay Hodge is even al wideout there.

But when the recruiting process began, Taylor's allegiance to the Rebels began to waver after a few visits to Mississippi State. Now that the Bulldogs have verbally offered the 6-foot-1, 191-pounder he now has a new favorite team.

"I've got State at the top now," Taylor said. "Right now me and Coach (Mark) Hudspeth are tight. I love the coaches up there. I've gotten to know them personally. They are real cool."

Taylor found out about his verbal offer last night during a phone conversation with Hudspeth.

"I had football workouts at 7:00 yesterday morning and my head coach called me over as soon as I got there," Taylor said. "He said his wife went to a ladies football camp at Mississippi State and Coach (Dan) Mullen came over and said he had heard good things about that wide receiver from Morton. He said that they were waiting to hear from me so I called Coach Hudspeth when I got out of workouts but it was busy.

"I called him back later on last night and we talked a little about what all we had going on for July 4th. Then I asked him about what Coach Mullen was talking about and he said that Coach Mullen wanted me. He said I was at the top of the list and he told me that I've got my scholarship. He jokingly told me he didn't want to hear anymore talk about Ole Miss. He said he wanted me to be a Bulldog and come play for him. He said he was real excited to be working with me for the next four years."

Taylor believes he can be an impact player at wide receiver in Mullen's spread offensive attack.
