Powell Won't be Slowed by Doubt
It's quite likely that when Joe Powell spoke his first words someone listening realized they had a future wide receiver on their hands. The 5-foot-11, 174-pound pass-catcher has the confidence, swagger and ability to convey those feelings that would make most NFL receivers envious of the Dallas Skyline product.
So to say that Powell enjoyed the attention from Sooner fans, coaches, recruits, and current players during last weekend's Red-White game would be a mild understatement. In fact one fan's autograph request particularly touched the Sooners first skill position commitment for the class of 2010.
"Everything went good, a lot of dudes knew me and a lot of the coaches and fans knew me. Everyone seemed very excited about getting me up to Norman," Powell beamed. "It was real good. On the way up I gave a guy an autograph at Love's. I saw that he had OU stuff on and I said something to him. He saw me and was talking about he knew I was the guy who had committed and told me he had seen me on the Internet."
Powell may be well known by Sooner fans but with so many Dallas area prospects he was known by even more recruits.
