McCabe lands first football offer

There is little doubt that Sioux City Heelan's Zach McCabe is one of the top two-sport athletes in the state of Iowa for 2010. If anyone needed further proof, the 6-foot-6, 201-pound McCabe recently landed his first scholarship offer for football from South Florida to go along with earlier offers to play college basketball.

While it is not often that South Florida recruits the state of Iowa, the Bulls' head coach, Jim Leavitt, has several ties to the Hawkeye State. At the beginning of his career, he spent time at Dubuque, Morningside, and Iowa as he worked his way up the coaching ladder. It was at Morningside, which is located in Sioux City, where Leavitt's connection to McCabe begins as he coaches his father there in the early 80's.
