Redshirt Review: LaMichael James

During the 2008 recruiting cycle, the University of Oregon began to flex its recruiting muscle on the national scene. The Lone Star State was especially kind to the Ducks, with WR Blake Cantu, LS Zac Taylor, QB Darron Thomas and RB LaMichael James all heading north and west to Eugene.

Texarkana running back LaMichael James completed his redshirt season in 2008 for Oregon and is now ready to enter the mix in the spring. The 5'9" speedster out of Liberty-Eylau high school has caught the eye of the Oregon staff.

"He's a tremendous talent," observed Oregon offensive coordinator . "He's a difference maker with his speed. He did a great job with the scout squad, probably the best player we had down there. I'm really excited about his future."

One reason for the excitement is based on need. With senior [db]Jeremiah Johnson graduating, the Ducks have need of bodies for spring practice at that position. Kelly was not interested in speculating where James might fit in.

"I have no idea where he will fit into the depth chart. We will only have four kids there for spring and as you know, you can never have enough bodies at that position some camps."
