UCLA recruiting rewind
Four-star quarterback Richard Brehaut (6-2, 208, 4.8) from Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) Los Osos did something last in the quarterfinal game against Chino Hills, Calif., that all UCLA fans hope he does for the Bruins one day as the future Bruin quarterback was sensational leading his team to a thrilling fourth quarter comeback victory to advance to the semifinal in what could be a classic rematch with league rival, Upland.
It was an unbelievable game in the rain that saw Los Osos down 24-14 at the half. Brehaut led his team to a third quarter score to get the game to 24-21 as the fourth quarter began.
With time running out Brehaut led his team and was about to get the go ahead score when his wide receiver slipped and a Chino Hills defensive back picked the ball off with less than three minutes to play.
The Los Osos' defense did their job and held Chino Hills to three and out.
Now the clock was down to less than two minutes, Brehaut was able to lead Los Osos to the 10 yard line and once again his team was knocking on the door to take the lead, but penalties pushed Los Osos back to the 25 yard line.
On fourth and goal from the 25 yard line Brehaut hung tough in the pocket and threw a strike, right before taking a hit, to his wide receiver with nine ticks left on the clock for the go ahead touchdown.
During that go ahead drive, Brehaut had to convert a fourth and 19 to keep the game winning drive going. On the night, Brehaut threw for 293 yards and two touchdowns. He also had approximately 70 rushing yards.
On the season, Brehaut has thrown for approximately 2,400 yards, and 21 touchdowns against only four picks.
Brehaut will enter school early and compete in spring ball.
