In the days leading up to Florida State's game last week at Maryland, Seminoles head coach Bobby Bowden did not sound overly confident about freshman left tackle Andrew Datko's chances of playing against the Terrapins.



Bowden's reservations were natural - just a few days earlier, Datko sustained a dislocated elbow against Boston College. Even if he could start at Maryland, one had to wonder how long he would be able to last.




As it turned out, Datko not only started and played, but he played well. He helped FSU's line pave the way for 332 yards of offense while allowing no sacks.
