Lawrence keeping MSU in the family

Cameron Lawrence made his decision during the spring that he wanted to become a Bulldog.

Lawrence said there were several deciding factors on his choice to attend Mississippi State but the main thing was familiarity. Lawrence has been around the program throughout the recruitment and playing career of his brother Addison, a redshirt freshman tackle/ tight end.

"There were several different things with one of them being my brother," Lawrence said of his decision. "Going through the recruiting process with him, I really got to know Mississippi State and I've been down there several times. I just really got to like the coaching staff and I really believe in Coach (Sylvester) Croom and where he is going with things. I wanted to represent Mississippi wherever I am playing so that's why I want to go down there and help him win championships. I just felt like that is where I fit in best was at Mississippi State."

Lawrence said the Bulldogs slow start to the season only makes him want to get to Starkville faster so he can help them back to their winnings ways.

"Everyone wants to go someplace high and win national championships and all that," Lawrence said. "I see this as a chance to go in and totally change things around. I want to go somewhere where things are down and bring things up. I see it as a challenge. I can't wait to get down there. I'm ready to make an impact so I can't wait."

Lawrence said he stays in contact with Rockey Felker and attends every home game at Davis Wade Stadium to watch his brother play.
