Video: Blake Treadwell dominates scimmage

LANSING - SpartanMag.com split time between scrimmages at Lansing Sexton and Lansing Waverly last Thursday as Spartan commitments Larry Caper, Micajah Reynolds, and Blake Treadwell were all taking part in scrimmages for their resepctive high school teams.

We arrived at Waverly after Treadwell had taken most of his reps during the four-team scrimmage. But we arrived in time to see Treadwell play in two series against Martin Luther King.

A four-star commitment ranked the No. 2 center in the Class of 2009, Treadwell will likely be a three-technique defensive tackle at the next level. Against King Treadwell was explosive, quick, and he never took a play off.

King does not have Nick Perry this year, but they do still have some physical bid-bodied athletes in their front seven including nose tackle Orlando McCord, who has gotten looks from schools across the Big Ten and will likely earn a Division 1-A scholarship with a good senior season.

In the embedded video, Treadwell starts off against King junior defensive Delecter Durley (6-2 235) who is entering his second season on the varsity for MLK. Treadwell manhandles Durley in the video before pulling on a play and pancaking another second year varsity player in sophomore (6-2, 230) linebacker Bernard Taylor. In one of the final clips in this video package, Treadwell pancakes McCord, a 6-foot-3 250-pound second year starter for the Crusaders.

Special thanks to SpartanMag.com's John Claya for shooting video of Treadwell at Waverly.
