Jimbo Fisher on the first day in full pads

Transcript of Jimbo Fisher's post-practice interview with the media:

What did you see for the first day in pads?

"You know something, I saw some of those young guys. … Some of them don't always know what they are doing but you saw them getting after it. You saw them putting their face in there, going, and really running around. I am excited. The old guys, they stepped up. We have gotten better. We had balls on the ground in the rain that we have to get taken care of but as far as the effort and our mind was back in practice today. We had some mistakes but we were getting back in them."

What about some of the skill guys?

"We made some really good plays. Preston (Parker) made a couple of catches, I think Greg (Carr) made one. Corey (Surrency) seems to make one every day. He is making a pretty good play every day. The young tight ends caught a couple of balls and moving around. I think they are going to be good. The two young backs made good runs, 33 and 38, Ty Jones and Jermaine Thomas both made a couple of really good runs today, two or three times. They got hit hard a couple of times and got right back up, went to the next play, and held onto the ball. I get as much out of that as a guy making a run. He made some plays, made a goal-line run. Deuce (Antone Smith) had a couple nice runs. Deuce is playing pretty good ball right now, he seems to be, his head is in it."
