2010 standout has bloodlines

One of the most impressive looking players at USC's Rising Stars Camp in late June was no doubt class of 2008 defensive tackle Dax Smith (6-8, 335, 5.2) from Los Angeles (Calif.) Westchester. He was moving around pretty good for a very big young man.

Smith played defensive tackle and he was extremely hard to handle. He was surprisingly flexible and was able to get underneath his opponent. He was able to out quick many during the one on one drill.

The scouting report on Smith is he has a never say die attitude. You won't be finding him quitting on a play or himself. He has outstanding character on and off the field.

Besides USC, he is also getting recruiting attention from cross town rival UCLA. Other such schools as Arizona, Ohio State and Hawai'i, join the two Los Angeles area schools that are already dialed in on Smith.

"USC has always been my favorite," Smith said. "My dad was a member of the original Wild Bunch."

Obviously Smith has tremendous football bloodlines. His dad is Tody Smith who besides being a standout for USC, played in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Oilers and the Buffalo Bills. His uncle is Bubba Smith the standout Michigan State Spartan and NFL great with the Baltimore Colts.
