Countdown to Camp: The Defensive Line
Fall camp opens up in 20 days. Over the next couple of weeks, PowerMizzou.com will continue to get Tiger fans completely prepped for the biggest season in school history. Today, we continue our in-depth breakdowns of the fall situation at every position on the field. We move on to the defensive line today.
The Starters: Three of the four return from last year in Stryker Sulak, Tommy Chavis and Ziggy Hood. The hole left by Lorenzo Williams should be filled by Jaron Baston. There just isn't really a whole lot of doubt here.
Major Camp Storyline: Where does the rush come from? Williams led Missouri with 6.5 sacks last season. While Sulak and Hood have shown flashes of getting to the quarterback, neither has done it consistently enough to feel completely comfortable going into camp. Hood must step up and become one of the Big 12's dominant players on the inside and Sulak needs to be an every down threat rushing the passer.
By the Numbers: 7. The number of combined tackles between Corbett, Maples, Resonno, Hamilton, Earnhardt and Keck, our projected top six backups. All seven have come from Corbett. None of the other five have ever played in a game.
