Four-star DT decommits

Rivals250 defensive tackle John Drew has had a change of heart. The one time Georgia Tech commitment has opened things back up after thinking long and hard about his decision.

"John prayed on this for a long time," said his father Roderick Drew. "My wife and I noticed something was wrong about two weeks ago and he sat down and opened up about it a couple of days ago."

"John has de-committed from Georgia Tech and he is just going to start over from scratch."

Drew's decision to explore other options had nothing to do with Paul Johnson or the Georgia Tech program, but it was all about location.

"Atlanta was just too big for him. John just wasn't feeling the big city. It is a lot different than Columbus and Atlanta is not him. He thought he would like it, he tried hard to make it work, but he just was not happy with it."

"It had nothing to do with the coaches at Georgia Tech or anything about the school, but it was just about the area the school was in. It was not working for John."

The 6-foot-1, 303-pound DT is rated number 180 on the Rivals250 and even though he has been committed for a while, other schools have still been involved.

"He has other offers from Duke, Mississippi State, and Vanderbilt, so he is going to look at those schools and see what else comes in," said Mr. Drew.

"We are just going to see what happens now. He talked to us about it, we support his decision, and in the end he has to be happy. We want him to make the best choice for him."
