Samuels is the real deal

Three-star cornerback Vachel Samuels (6-1, 190, 4.44) from Lynwood, Calif., has blown up this spring and if he continues to impress as he has the last two weekend at the UCLA and USC camp you can be assured there are going to be several more scholie opportunities come his way in the very near future. At both camps, he was one of the best corners in attendance.

"UCLA talked to my coach and they are very interested in me," Samuels said. "USC assistant coach Ken Norton Jr. came by my school and told my coach that the Trojans were interested in me and that's the reason that I went to their because they wanted to see me up close."

"I was thinking about going to the B2G (Beyond 2000 Elite) Camp, but I think I'm done with camps for now," Samuels said. "My team has a lot of passing league tournaments and it is now time for me to focus on my team and my senior season."

"We will compete against Carson in one passing league tournament," Samuels said. "I'm looking forward matching up with (USC commit) Morrell Presley. We will also hook up with Newhall (Calif.) Hart and looking forward that as well."

Samuels showed off his lockdown coverage skills at both UCLA and USC camps. He showed outstanding technique, footwork and instincts. He also displayed the competitive spirit that you like to see in all football players.
