Dugat firms up pledge
TCU is putting together a very impressive class in the early stages of the 2009 recruiting season. Amassing talent at a record pace, the Horned Frogs are nabbing some of the state's best players at every position but most notably at the skill positions.
With current pledges from Rivals 250 members Casey Pachall(QB) and Jurell Thompson(Ath.), the Frogs have added other key cogs to the machine as well. Just recently, Sherman, TX tailback Waymon James joined the fray giving the Frogs one of the state's best runners. Considering the amount of accolades the aforementioned players have received, it might be hard to believe that I haven't mentioned TCU's most exciting recruit with the football in his hands yet. That honor belongs to Dayton's own, A.J. Dugat (6'0" 203). The exciting play maker likes to score touchdowns and score them at an astounding clip. The Frogs feel like they have landed one of the state's best receivers an couldn't be happier that he's chosen Ft. Worth, TX to further his reputation on the football field.
PurpleMenace.Com caught up with A.J. amongst rumors that he might be looking elsewhere even though he gave his commitment to TCU back in February. So, is the young game breaker solid to TCU or is he looking elsewhere?
"Yeah, I'm solid to TCU" said Dugat. "I talk to Coach Tademy about once a week and I feel like I have a good relationship with him."
With his commitment firmed up, we wanted to know what it was about TCU that he liked enough for him to call Ft.Worth home.
"It's everything really, it's all close together, the coaches are all real cool and they've been there for a while" said Dayton's finest. "I spoke with the quarterback that committed(Casey Pachall) on the phone and he seems real cool. I like it because he reminds me of (Dayton teammate) Cody Green and I'm excited to be coming in with him."
When Dugat committed back in February, TCU was his only offer. Fast forward to May and the rising star from Texas is beginning to add offers to his list. What new schools have thrown their hat in the ring for his talents?
"I've received offers from U of H (Houston), Nebraska, Oklahoma St., UNLV and a couple of others" said Dugat. After reciting the schools that have now offered him, Dugat once again reiterated that he is solid to TCU.
With one of the state's finest receivers now locked up, TCU can turn their attention to adding more pieces to what they hope will be a National Championship puzzle. Before I ended my discussion with Dugat, the prized recruit had one more thing that he wanted to let the Frog faithful hear.
"I just wanted to say, Go Frogs!!"
