Debose grabs offer from OSU
Sanford (Fla.) Seminole athlete Andre Debose knows all about being a highly touted high school recruit. He attends the same high school as other big-time recruits such as Ray Ray Armstrong and Dyron Dye and also has the scholarship offer list to prove it.
Already among his impressive offer list is LSU, USC, Tennessee, Florida, Miami, Georgia, and Florida State, in addition to one of Debose's most recent offers in Ohio State.
"(Darrell Hazell) came out during our spring practice and I am not practicing right now because I have an injured leg, so I got to talk to the coach," Debose. "He just let me know that they gave me an offer.
"It was a great honor to get an offer from Ohio State because it is a big powerhouse and they let me know that they really wanted me and they are really interested," Debose added. "Ohio State is a good school and I would love to go there. They would be one of my top choices."
With all of the prestigious offers already on Debose's list, he said he hasn't put too much thought into narrowing down a top three. However, Debose did indicate that Ohio State immediately sparked his interest.
"Right now I really don't have a top three," Debose said. "Ohio State stood out to me. Every year they (are) competing for a national championship and they have a lot of exposure to the NFL."
Debose, who plays a variety of different positions on both sides of the ball including wide receiver, quarterback, and running back on offense and defensive back on defense, is being recruited by Ohio State as slot receiver.
"I can pretty much just play anywhere," Debose said. "I am always on the field either way."
There has been some speculation that Debose, Dye, and Armstrong all want to attend the same college. Debose said he thought Dye and Armstrong both have offers from Ohio State, but wasn't completely sure.
"They have been both drawing some interest (from Ohio State)," Debose said. "Coach Hazell talked to them too. I don't know what they talked about, but I am pretty sure they have offers too."
Ohio State has made recruiting out of Florida a priority, and Debose said he felt it was because of the speed found in the state.
"I feel like the best recruits are in Florida," Debose said. "There is a lot of speed in Florida and I think that's why Ohio State comes down here."
Debose has made it out to an array of Florida schools for visits, including Miami, Florida State, and Florida, but has so far been unable to visit the out of state schools on his list.
When asked if Ohio State was a priority to visit, Debose responded, "Oh yeah, of course. I have never been to Ohio in my life
(Visiting Ohio State) is pretty high up there. I want to open my eyes a little bit and I want to be able to see all of (my options), but Ohio State is a priority. They are pretty high."
"This summer I am taking all of my out of state visits," Debose added.
