Robby Green

Rivals.com Position Ranking: 17th-ranked cornerback.
High school: River Ridge (La.) John Curtis.
Commitment Date: 12/11/07.
Recruited By: Burton Burns.

Present size: 6-0, 170 pounds.

On his current workout routine: "I've been getting out of school at 1:30 and I'll work out until 5 or 5:30, mostly running but a lot of lifting, too. I haven't maxed out on the bench and the squat but I'm benching 225 at three sets of 10 and squatting reps up to about 400. I've been working out with a trainer and we've been getting after it for five months straight. I used to run track in the spring, but I gave it up this last year to get ready for football."

On when he will report to UA: "On May 31st I leave, and I think I'll be the first freshman there. I'm enrolling in the first summer school."

On his future jersey number: "Well, 28 is taken - Javier Arenas has that and I don't think he's giving it up. I might end up wearing No.2, but we'll have to see."

On his course of study at UA: "I want to go into the business school. It's a great school and it's something to fall back on if football doesn't work out. One thing my family taught me is that you don't want to work for somebody else - you want to work for yourself, so I'm following that."

Self-description of playing style: "I'm a very aggressive player, and I'm easy to coach. I try to be knowledgeable, go 110 percent and just ball as hard as I can. I'm a vocal guy - if something's not right I let people know about it."

On when he knew Alabama was right for him: "It was where I wanted to be before my visit. They were constantly staying in touch with me and I always knew what was going on with their recruiting. They kept on me and it meant a lot. One day I sat down and started looking at all the schools to try to figure out where I was going to visit, and I just started wondering, 'Do I really want to go on all these visits when I know where I want to go?' Coach Saban came to the house the next day, and I just pulled the trigger right there. He said 'Are you serious?' and I said 'Yes, sir'. He told me I could sleep on it, and I did that but I felt the same way the next day. I was going to [visit] LSU, Florida, and either Tennessee or Ole Miss. Arizona State was on me, too, but I didn't go on any of them. Alabama was my only visit."

One thing most people don't know about you: "I love soccer. I've never played it, but I like to watch it. I've got a friend who got me into it. It's a lot like football in some ways. It's a great game."

On local pressure to sign with LSU: There was a lot of pressure, and everybody started dogging me after I committed. I've been to Death Valley so many times I can't even count. It's a great school and a great program, but I had to do what was right for me. I just didn't pay attention to any of it, and it never got disrespectful. There was some talk that LSU never offered me, but that's just people talking. I know what happened, and they know, and that's all that matters."

On his assistance in the recruitment of Mark Ingram: "I just talked to him a lot, and I watched his tape and told him what a big difference I thought he could make. He and I met on the same visit weekend and exchanged phone numbers and got to be good friends. It was hard to tell what he was going to do for awhile, but he knows now he made the right decision. He's a great guy who knows what he wants and he's going to do some great things at Alabama."
