Blogging from the King James, Day I

CANTON, Ohio--The open evaluation period for 2009 prospects began in earnest last weekend and West Virginia coach Bob Huggins kicked off the season that lasts till mid-May by going to the Pittsburgh JamFest. This weekend he is here at the King James (yes, LeBron) Shooting Stars Classic.

Seniors--that is 2008 prospects like Devin Ebanks--are prohibited in AAU Tournaments like this, so the focus is on '09, '10, '11 players. If you remember 2010 committed point guard Noah Cottrill was here a year ago with the Ohio Basketball Club.

Of interest Friday night at the Green High School gymnasium was the New York Gauchos, a Nike-brand national power which emanates from The Bronx. Yes, 2008 signee Darryl (Truck) Bryant was on this team when it played in 2007.
