Plano East RB picking up new interest
Plano East running back Toben Opurum has five offers to play Division I football, measured at 6-foot-2 and 229 pounds at Rival's five-star academy in January and has been electronically timed in the 4.5-second range in the 40-yard dash.
Last season, Opurum had 99 carries for 600 yards and four touchdowns, and added 27 catches for 574 yards and six touchdowns through the air. He was the leading rusher and second leading receiver on the team. He played tailback after playing fullback as a sophomore on one of the Metroplex's most successful teams that featured Virginia signee Riko Smalls.
Yet, if there is a prospect in the state of Texas who you could consider to be under the radar, it's Opurum.
That will probably change in the coming weeks as Opurum and Plano East go through spring practice with college coaches from across the country coming to watch.
Opurum has scholarships offers from Wake Forest, Tulsa, Nebraska, Kansas and Purdue. He is gaining interest from Texas A&M, Texas, Northwestern, Minnesota and Rice.
