Hawthorne gets fourth offer
It's not often that a school has two top flight receivers, but at East St. Louis in 2009, that seems to be exactly the case. One of those receivers, Terry Hawthorne, has seen recruiting take off early and often, although the past few weeks have been surprisingly quiet.
Hawthorne has already received a fair amount of interest from several schools and as of last week, had four offers. The most recent one came from one of the closest schools to him and made him feel as if he had made it big.
Hawthorne said that the last year had been great for his two local teams, Missouri and Illinois. He said that it was hard not to be impressed with the offense in Columbia.
Hawthorne's teammate, Kraig Appleton has also been getting quite a bit of attention from schools and both were excited for what was coming up in recruiting. Hawthorne said, however, they hadn't talked about the possibility of being teammates after 2009.
Hawthorne said he had hoped to see a few campuses already, but things had fallen through. In the coming weeks, he hoped to start getting around to seeing campuses and finding out what the areas were like.
As Hawthorne waits to really kick off recruiting, he said that three schools had stuck out in his mind. He wasn't sure why just yet, but over the next months, he would be watching closely.
