Talented and Versatile: Avery & Thomas
Two prospects in Georgia's class of 2008 are both very talented and very versatile athletes. Frostproof (Fla.) running back Carlton Thomas and Ellenwood (Ga.) athlete Xavier Avery will bring a lot of ability to Athens and they could be used in a lot of different ways by the Bulldog coaching staff.
The Dawgs signed 24 athletes on Wednesday February 6 and two of the best and most explosive are Avery and Thomas. Neither one of them are the biggest or most intimidating, but once they strap on the pads, they make a lot of fans say wow.
Avery is a 5-foot-11, 185-pound athlete that played running back, wide receiver and safety at Cedar Grove and Georgia is bringing him in specifically as athlete. He has great speed, he loves contact and he could end up at corner, safety, running back and he could possibly get a look at wide receiver. He is just that versatile.
His strengths are just making plays and playing the game at a high speed. He has the ability to definitely add some mass to his frame and to get stronger. The likely position for him at UGA is in the defensive backfield right now, but with his speed and playmaking ability offense is not out of the question.
