Defense guides IU past UNC Wilmington

With 30 points from Eric Gordon and a defense that forced 26 turnovers, Indiana cruised past UNC Wilmington 95-71 Tuesday night in Assembly Hall.

Gordon led all scorers, shooting 8-of-12 from the field and dishing out six assists. He looked less for his outside shot and more for his drive, which played a big part in him finishing 12-of-13 from the free throw line.

"He is better than what I saw on tape, and he is as good as I saw on tape," UNCW coach Benny Moss said. "I don't know if he has any weaknesses… He's as good as I've played against."

Armon Bassett added 19 points on 4-of-5 shooting from three-point range, and Jordan Crawford put in 15 points. D.J. White scored 12 points, and DeAndre Thomas chipped in 11 points, shooting 5-of-9 from the field.

The Hoosiers were just as strong defensively. After allowing the Seahawks to get out to an early lead, Indiana held UNCW to 11-of-24 shooting and forced 17 turnovers in the first half.
