Hawkinson fell short of ultimate goal
Tanner Hawkinson had high hopes of delivering a state championship to McPherson High School during his senior campaign. The 6-foot-6, 230-pound tight end fell short of achieving his goal, which means the three-star prospect will quickly turn his attention towards the hardwood. After appearing in the basketball state championship game last year, Hawkinson is hoping to make one final run at a title before making his way to Lawrence.
Hawkinson, the No. 4 ranked player in Kansas, is considered one of the crown jewels of Mark Mangino's recruiting class. After receiving scholarship offers from Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Colorado State and Georgia Tech, Hawkinson gave a commitment to Kansas back on June 16.
