Royse City star on the rise

In a year when you can find some of the top high school quarterbacks in the country down in Dallas, Houston and Austin, college coaches that recruit the state of Texas are going to need to schedule an off-the-path stop in Royse City.

That's where they find star quarterback Richard Morrison, who just happens to be one of the best-kept secrets in the Lone Star State.

While most are concentrating on junior quarterbacks like Austin Lake Travis' Garrett Gilbert, Houston Cy Ridge's Russell Shepard and Brownwood's Casey Pachell, the 6-0, 170-pound Morrison is having an incredible season of his own.

Through the first nine games of the season, Morrison has completed 173 of 253 passes for 2,502 yards, 25 touchdowns and only five interceptions. Add in nearly 300 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground, and you suddenly have a glimpse at one of the state's top run-pass prospects has done on the field this year.
