Buffs looking to bounce back against KU

Just how good is Kansas? That is the question of the week in Boulder. Undefeated at 6-0, the 15th-ranked Jayhawks compiled some impressive statistics through the first half of their season.

They currently rank second in the country in scoring offense and second in scoring defense.

They rank first in the Big 12 in both categories.

But Kansas has only played one other ranked team in Kansas State, which is ranked 25th after defeating Colorado in Manhattan last Saturday. The Jayhawks' other five opponents were Central Michigan, Southeast Louisiana, Toledo, Florida International and Baylor.

"I think they are very efficient and do a really good job all the way around," Colorado head coach Dan Hawkins said of KU. "Clearly when they go to Kansas State and beat those guys at home, that is a pretty large statement right there. But you can see on film that they are very talented in what they do. [They are] very sound."

"They are definitely a good football team," Buffs' starting quarterback Cody Hawkins added. "A lot of people are talking about how they haven't really played anybody, but I think they have played some good teams. You watch them on film [and] they just have done a lot of good things. They have a very aggressive team.

"I think they are one of the teams that lately have really been playing to win every game because on defense they are not trying to sit back and see what the offense is doing. The defense has been doing a good job of kind of regulating the tempo of their games and obviously that has put their offense in a good situation to score a lot of points and they have taken advantage of that."

Jayhawks' starting quarterback Todd Reesing made his college debut against Colorado in Lawrence last fall. Down 9-0 at halftime in the ninth game of their season, Kansas decided to go with Reesing, who was previously expected to redshirt. Reesing threw for two touchdowns and rushed for a score in the second half and helped the Jayhawks to a 20-15 victory over the Buffs.
