The State of Recruiting,

In 2007 the State for Recruiting so far has been Texas. The coaches that direct the efforts on the Blue Rug in beautiful Boise have squarely set their eyes on the blue bonnet state. They have reportedly extended offers to nine Texas preps and have received verbal commitments from three. The overall plan seems simple; Hit Texas and California hard, reel in the local talent and round it off with the best kids from the rest of the Northwest.

The plan makes sense, if you want happy hunting grounds you hit California, Texas and Florida. Florida is a bit of a stretch geographically but with the talent busting out of the seams in TX and CA you know that is where you ought to spend your money. Adding TX recruiting could be another brick in the process of building a perennial top15 team.

Bare in mind that Coach Chris Petersen and crew have certainly not forgotten about the home town kids that make the state of Idaho and Boise State what it is. Presently in the 2008 recruiting class coaches will have 4 Idaho kids coming in off their grey shirt and one homegrown verbal commit. In a state with a small population that speaks volumes about BSU's commitment to our in-state High School coaches. It tells them that if their players have the talent and traits they will be awarded with scholarships and not invitations to walk-on. That commitment plus winning will go a long way of keeping our kids in state and not heading to the PAC-10.
