Defense rests after forcing key turnovers

SYRACUSE, N.Y.-West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez has been saying he wanted something, anything from the defense that would lead to a score.

Saturday before 35,345 in the Carrier Dome-a crowd that dwindled to a good 3,000 West Virginia fans in the end-he got plenty as the Mountaineers bounced back with a 55-14 posting of Syracuse.

The 12th Coaches, 13th Associated Press-ranked Mountaineers (5-1 overall, 1-1 Big East) take a well deserved week off after playing six games in 36 days. 'Cuse is 1-5, 1-1.
