Rod: White's status won't be known until kickoff
MORGANTOWN-The status of junior quarterback Pat White will remain day-to-day for the rest of the week, said head Coach Rich Rodriguez at his weekly press conference Tuesday.
"We'll decide at noon on Saturday [whether he'll play]," Rodriguez said. "If I decide before, you won't know until noon on Saturday. Nobody else will, either." Jarrett Brown will start if White can't go, with Adam Bednarik the likely backup, he said.
After facing a fast defensive line at South Florida, this week's challenge is size up front, where Syracuse will likely field several 300-pound linemen.
"They play six or seven guys, big and physical, and no one really moves them off the ball," Rodriguez said. "They force you into run situations and crowd the box, and they'll get you down."
Last game raised a few warning signs on the offensive line. "We've got to do a better job of [moving defensive linemen] than we did in the last game. Up until that point, we did pretty good up front, but the last game we didn't get a whole lot of movement," he said.
