Scouting the Bearkats
Soooooooo, ya ready for some football?
Mike Gundy and his Oklahoma State Cowboys likely are after one of the wildest weeks in the history of the program. It's only been four days since "The Rant" put OSU on the front pages of newspapers, web sites and the lead of television broadcasts. And now that the players know they have a coach who will publicly defend them to the end, how will they respond on the field? More on that at the end of this piece. For now, it's time to focus on something other than YouTube or ESPN. Something like
the Sam Houston State Bearkats.
In what will be the last non-Big 12 game OSU plays in the regular season, the Sam Houston State Bearkats come to Stillwater this weekend looking to be the next Appalachian State. Meanwhile, the Cowboys hope to use this game as a final tune-up for league play and to build on the big win over Texas Tech last weekend.
This is a game that doesn't hype up much interesting for Cowboy fans, except for the fact that a very familiar name will guide the Bearkats' offense: former Oklahoma signal-caller Rhett Bomar. It seems like ages ago now, but Bomar helped pilot the Sooners in 2005 and a win in the Holiday Bowl. That season, Bomar and the Sooners thrashed the Pokes, 42-14. But that was a different time and a different team ago. How will the Pokes measure up against this squad?
