Two trips to Tuscaloosa for Green
The Crimson Tide have been mentioned early and often in connection with Spain Park defensive end William Green, the nation's No. 2 weakside defensive end and the 6-foot-4, 215-pound senior paid his second visit of the season to Alabama this past weekend for the Tide's game against Georgia.
"I've been to Alabama each of the last two weeks and I had a good time. The atmosphere for both games was great. The fans were loud and they support that team. It's impressive to see and hear. Both games were very close and I thought Alabama played well," Green said. "I did the things that normal recruits do. I enjoy seeing them get ready for the game. It's a good environment and there are a lot of people there who are very excited about their team."
"I talked to the coaches but not really about recruiting. They've told me several times so I already know I fit and how with their defense. Coach (Kevin) Steele has explained that to me and it sounds good. They'll use me at linebacker."
Green got a chance to meet several of the more high-profile recruits in attendance Saturday and enjoyed making connections with the players that could be his future teammates.
"I met Arthur Brown face-to-face for the first time. I've talked to him before and he's a nice guy. He seemed to be having a good time and I think he's looking at Alabama hard. We talked about how high Alabama's class would be ranked if we both went there. It's already a good class and would be ranked pretty high," Green said. "I also hung out with Jerrell (Harris) who I talk to. We are both linebackers so we have that in common and in-state guys. We've talked about what it would be like if we both go to 'Bama. I wouldn't mind playing with him."
Green is still taking things slow in the recruiting process and said he'll likely wait until after the season is over to make his decision.
"I haven't thought much about recruiting lately. I've been going to some games to have fun and that's about it,We have such a tough high school schedule I've been focused on that. We don't get a break," Green said. "After the season I'll know more. I don't have a timetable for my decision or anything like that but I don't plan to break everything down until afterward. I'm still looking at the same schools."
