Dingle 'Just Getting Warmed Up'

MORGANTOWN-West Virginia football fans with an eye towards the Internet Monday found out that senior defensive end Johnny Dingle was honored as the BIG EAST defensive player of the week for his efforts against Maryland. They would also have been a day ahead of the man himself.

"I didn't realize that [I had won] until today," Dingle said Tuesday. "A lot of the coaches and players were congratulating me when I came in."

Dingle set the tone immediately against Maryland, forcing a fumble on the first play of the game; he finished with six tackles, including two and a half for losses, and a sack.

"I just went out there. Coach said we wanted more big hits." Dingle said. "You just sit down, sink your hips, make your tackles, and good things will happen."

Good things have happened to the senior since he arrived in Morgantown. Coach Rich Rodriguez praised his maturity during Monday's BIG EAST teleconference.
