Dorrell takes responsibility

At yesterday's press conference UCLA head coach Karl Dorrell talked the talk and took responsibility as a head should. The question remains will Dorrell, his coaching staff and his team do the walk. The time for talking is done, action is required now. The following is part one of Dorrell's press conference yesterday.

Dorrell: "Let's start with some good news. We have Brian Priceback into the fold that has been an anticipated issue for quite some time so we're very pleased about that. You guys got the chance to meet with him earlier and he's excited to be back so that can possibly help us in our future given Brigham Harwell's status right now. He did some promising things early in the camp so it is encouraging to get him back in the fold.

"Recapping from the game we are all disappointed about what happened there and in a lot of ways embarrassed about that type of performance. There is no excuse for that and that is my responsibility ultimately and a shared responsibility with our coaches and our players.

"We have talked about that at length last night (Sunday September 16th) in viewing the tape and then having individual meetings. We do know we are at a point that we have to definitely improve now that we start the Pac 10 season.

"Just talking about the game it hard for any football on any level to have five turnovers in a game and 10 penalties to perform under those types of conditions and be successful.

"There was inconsistencies in all levels of our football team so it wasn't just an offensive thing, but defensively we were a little bit up and down. Special teams we could have played better."
