Albright stepping up

Alex Albright might not look like the most menacing defensive end.

At 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds with the boyish looks of the true sophomore that he is, Albright appears a little more like the high school basketball player he once was than an end on one of the better defenses in the nation.

But heading into Boston College's huge game on Saturday night against No. 15 Georgia Tech, that's exactly what Albright is. And he's excelling at it, which has taken even him by a surprise a little bit. Coming from St. Xavier in Cincinnati, where underclassmen had trouble getting on the field, Albright had assumed it would to take a while for him to climb up the pecking order on the depth chart. But after playing a lot as a true freshman last season, he earned the starting job and, with wins over Wake Forest and North Carolina State, Albright has nine tackles and a sack.
