Scott's season a tale of two halves

Penn State senior tailback Austin Scott had quite a day for the Nittany Lions on Saturday night against Notre Dame. Well, sort of.

Scott rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries, his fourth-career 100-yard rushing game. But, for the second time this season, his rushing total in the first half was less than 40 yards.

Struggling to establish a strong running game in the first half of games this season, Scott said that he is hoping that things change for this week's game against Buffalo.

"I'm just hoping that we start to mesh early off in the game," he said. "We definitely gotta start kicking a lot faster than we have been. Just recognizing certain schemes the defense is trying to throw at us."

Scott attributed the difference in production between the first and second halves to multiple possibilities. For one, the team has a distinct advantage after learning of adjustments in the halftime locker room.
