Throughout the football season, we at Orangebloods.com will offer up our insights about the Longhorns that we believe were the hottest players on the Texas football team.
It's a fine line ranking the top players from week to week, and there are usually several guys that just miss the cut. As always, we encourage readers to head over to the Inside the Forty Acres board to offer up their own opinions.
How valuable has Chris Hall been for the Longhorns this year? He's started at guard, can play center if needed, and last week he filled in admirably at right tackle after Adam Ulatoski went down with an arm injury. Mack Brown called Hall a "life-saver" on Monday he's certainly been a savior for the Longhorn offensive line.
Jones was on top of our list last week, and he remains near the top of the mountain after his stellar effort against TCU. His eight catches and 91 yards were both game highs, and his 33-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter really jump-started the Texas offense. Jones has stepped up his game when the Longhorns needed him most.
The Texas linebackers have taken more than their share of heat over the past year, but Derry has always been incredibly consistent. On Saturday night, he was second on the team with eight tackles, he recorded the Horns' only interception and he also forced a fumble.
