Dykes' injury puts cramp in WVU defense

MORGANTOWN-Keilen Dykes presents Rich Rodriguez with a new worry on Day 1 of Maryland Week. The Mountaineers (2-0, 4th in both polls) travel to Byrd Stadium Thursday night at 7:45 for the final game in a renewed series that will be suspended until 2010.

Maryland is 2-0 with victories at home with Villanova and on the road Saturday at Florida International.

"Keilen went in with foot sprain, but it got worse as the Marshall game went on. He is day to day. We X-rayed it; it's not broke," said Rod.

Dykes was credited with 5 assisted tackles at Joan C. Edwards Stadium, but Johnny Dingle picked up the slack (2 sacks, 1 hurry) and the Gold & Blue registered 4 QB drops.

The Terrapins, who have lost three in a row to Rodriguez's team (45-28 at Milan Puskar Stadium in '06; 31-19 at Byrd in '05 and 19-16 in OT here in '04), feature two-year starter Edwin Williams (6-foot-2, 326 pounds) at center, two-year starter Andrew Crummey (6-5, 301) at right guard and veteran Jamie Thomas (6-4, 339, 78-inch wing span) at left guard.
