NU Notes: Players react to Callahan extension

When the news got out on Tuesday that Nebraska head coach Bill Callahan's contract was extended for five more seasons, a lot of questions about the future of the program were answered.

When NU senior starting quarterback Sam Keller was asked to give his reaction on the news of Callahan's extension, he couldn't say enough good words about what it means for the program.

"All I can say is that Nebraska fans can expect huge things," Keller said. "Coach Callahan is as classy and fantastic a coach as they get. It just says a lot about what he has done here that he received that extension. I am just proud to have been a small part of his tenure here. When you talk about him establishing a legacy and being a coach for a long time now, that helps recruiting and everything like that now.

"These coaches just put in their heart and soul over these jobs and for that to happen, it is very rewarding. It is very rewarding for this entire state and program. You can expect big things and I am just proud to have been a small part of it."

Freshman kicker Adi Kunalic will be with Callahan for at least three more seasons, so for him to know Callahan will be with him the whole way had him pretty excited on Tuesday as well.

"He is awesome," Kunalic said. "I talked to him on Thursday before the weekend and he just let me know that he was behind me on everything I did. He gave me a few pointers to focus on some stuff. Just to ignore all the fans and just to be relaxed."
