QB starter: 'Still clueless'
The media and the public will not be told which quarterback will start for Notre Dame in the Sept. 1 opener against Georgia Tech.
When the quarterbacks themselves will be told apparently is uncertain as well.
Last week, Irish head coach Charlie Weis said the player who would take the first snap against the Yellow Jackets on Sept. 1 would get the majority of the repetitions in practice beginning Monday, Aug. 20.
As of Tuesday, neither sophomore Demetrius Jones nor junior Evan Sharpley admitted to knowing who the starter would be.
"No, still clueless. Still clueless," said Jones Tuesday when asked if the quarterbacks knew who would get the starting nod against Georgia Tech. "This is not just a media battle, it's actually what's going on.
"I'm quite sure if one of us knew who the person was, we'd be more than happy to get it out there. The fact of the matter is it's just not to that point yet, and whenever (Weis) feels that it's time for it to be named, that's when we'll know.
