Practice report: Ready for second scrimmage
The Tigers held a workout in shorts in preparation for the second, and most important, scrimmage of the fall on Friday morning. Here is the full rundown of what happened at the practice:
*Van Alexander practiced without a red jersey. Gary Pinkel said after practice that Alexander made it through fine and they were hopeful that he would scrimmage full out on Saturday.
*Darnell Terrell will be held out of the scrimmage. Pinkel said he hopes Terrell will be full strength and ready to go on Tuesday.
*Jon Gissinger is likely to be held out of the scrimmage and Hardy Ricks and Marcus Woods are out for sure. Pinkel said the Tigers were still hopeful to get Ricks and Woods back in time for the Illinois game.
*Pinkel said that Carl Gettis is the only freshman he feels comfortable saying will play for sure, but Lambert's presence on the top kickoff unit is a definite indication the coaches will play him. I'll have more on some of the freshmen who are on the fence later today.
*Gettis and Paul Simpson were working as the first-team cornerbacks. It is not out of the question that Gettis starts against Illinois.
*The Tigers went through the two-minute drill, which is always interesting to watch. Here are my observations:
The first-team scored when Chase Daniel threw an absolutely perfect pass to Jared Perry for about a 40-yard touchdown down the right sideline. Perry ran right past Vaughns on the play.
For the second straight practice, Lorenzo Williams dropped a pick. Got to dry those gloves off, Zo.
Missouri will scrimmage with practice beginning at 8:15 on Saturday morning<
