2009 ATH has family ties to UGA

The 2007 season is about to begin and most experts are still focused on the class of 2008, but it is never too early to look ahead. A powerful high school in the state of Georgia year in and year out is Tucker and they should be loaded this year. They are stocked deep on offense and defense and one junior will help them on both sides of the ball. He is already getting a lot of attention and he will likely be one of the best in Georgia come 2009.

"I am hearing from just about all of the SEC schools," said Jonathan Davis. "I also get stuff from Alabama-Birmingham, East Carolina, Florida State and some others too."

As a sophomore at St. Pius, Davis 198-tackles, 13-tackles for loss, 4 sacks and 4 caused fumbles on defense. He also added 998-yard rushing and 9-toucdowns on offense. He hopes to build on those numbers this year at his new home.

"I am still playing linebacker and running back at Tucker. I will be playing middle linebacker there and I am ready. We are going to have a great defense and I can't wait to get going. I had to miss the spring because I moved in, so I have been working hard this summer. I think we will have a great season."

Davis was able to attend one camp this summer around all of his off-season workouts at Tucker. He thinks he did well in front of the Bulldog coaches.

"Georgia was the only camp I could make it to," he said. "I started off at running back there and Coach Tony Ball liked me and he asked me to come back to Georgia this fall."

"I also worked at linebacker too and I moved around there. I went in and out and got a lot of reps there. I think I had a good camp at Georgia."
