Keller feels fine; Day 3 notebook

After undergoing surgery on his shoulder in early January, tight end Dustin Keller says he feels no ill-effects from the AC joint problem that forced him under the knife.

"Everything's fine," Keller said. "There have been no problems, and I haven't had to go to the training room or anything. I feel really good."

The fifth-year senior - one of Purdue's top offensive weapons - said he was full-go in the weight room for most of the summer, and could have practiced some in the spring if the potential risk involved was dubbed worth it. It was not.

A clean bill of health is good news for a player looking to finish his Boilermaker career strong, a sentiment he carried with him during the summer.

"You just want to do everything as well as you possibly can," Keller said. "Because I'm a senior - and I know it sounds clichéd - but I want to set a better example than I have in other years. I want to get my best work in now, because I know it's my last chance."
