Media day notes: Copter ready to fly
The Tigers held media day on Sunday afternoon at fall camp. While PowerMizzou.com will be at every practice and will be talking to the players each and every day for the next three weeks, we had a chance to cover some items that might not be front and center in the spotlight over the next few weeks.
Gettis gets started on defense
Carl Gettis came to Mizzou out of Fort Zumwalt West as the true definition of an athlete: a player that could line up on either side of the ball. After a strong prep career as both a running back and safety, Gettis has opened up fall camp as a cornerback.
"It was something coach Cornell Ford and I came to as a decision. I told him I'd do whatever he needed me to do to help the team," Gettis said. "It's a lot faster than high school."
Ford not only recruited Gettis out of high school, but he now gets to coach him. The Tigers' lead recruiter in St. Louis also works daily with the cornerbacks.
