Long snapper chooses SDSU

The Aztecs have been addressing their special teams needs early on this recruiting cycle.

SDSU picked up a verbal commitment from one of the nation's top punter prospects in Brian Stahovich back in June and they recently received a pledge from a highly regarded long snapper.

Aaron Brewer, from Troy High School in Fullerton, Calif., saw his recruiting stock rise after showing well at the National Kicking and Snapping Spring Event in Las Vegas in May.

"Aaron has become the top long snapper in his class," long snapping guru Chris Rubio said following the event. "He has all of the tools: great form, consistency, speed, blocking and size. He is still growing and will make some college very, very happy."

The college that Brewer will make "very, very happy" is apparently San Diego State. "Brewer has become the first long snapper for the Class of 2008 to commit," it states on ChrisSailorKicking.com. "He will be following in Tyler Schmitt's footsteps and playing at SDSU."

Brewer, who stands 6-foot-5, 220-pounds, has also played defensive back and outside linebacker for Troy High.

Off the field, Brewer is a black belt in karate and he will be an Eagle Scout within a couple months.
