Galas and Armstead return from SoCal camps
Two of the top uncommitted linemen in Northern California were in SoCal this past weekend training and competing at both the UCLA and USC camps. Modesto (Calif.) Central Catholic high's Dominic Galas worked on the offensive side of the ball while Elk Grove (Calif.) Pleasant Grove high's Armond Armstead worked on the defensive side. BearTerritory spoke with the pair after their performances.
Armstead expected to work on both sides of the ball at the USC camp, but just at the defensive tackle spot at the UCLA camp. About half-way through the drills at USC, the Trojan coaches told him they saw enough to know he can more than hang on the inside defensively.
For Galas, the camps started off with a bang. Just as he showed during the NIKE Training Camp in Palo Alto, where he took home MVP honors, Galas would not back down from anyone. While lining up against Colton (Calif.) defensive end Damien Holmes, a UCLA commit, Galas flattened the 6-foot-3, 250-pounder on the first go.
